Joseph A. Monte, 2008 Hall of Fame Inductee, co-founder of the Hall of Fame, and beloved counselor at AEHS for the past 50 years, welcomed back almost 150 alumni to the AEHS 50th Anniversary Celebration, which was held on Friday, September 7, 2012, at AEHS.

Attendees, including many from the group of students who walked through the front doors at Einstein that morning in September of 1962 when the school first opened, gathered in the AEHS auditorium at 10 AM where the celebration festivities began.
 
Stefan Monica ('70) was the Master of Ceremonies and AEHS Principal Jim Fernandez greeted everyone with a warm welcome and a brief talk about how AEHS has changed over the years to the school that it is today. Other highlights included remarks by Coach Al Ferraro and Joseph Monte and a special presentation by Montgomery County Councilman Phil Andrews ('77) of a Proclamation honoring Mr. Monte's 50 years of service to AEHS. The ceremony also featured a open microphone which was highlighted by numerous stories by alumni of how AEHS was so important in their lives. Barbara Strang ('70) lead the group in the singing of the Alma Mater and the Titan Fight Song.
 
A catered lunch followed in the school cafeteria. After lunch, guests were escorted on tours of the school by members of the Key Club. The guests enjoyed an afternoon of camaraderie of old and new friends and the many exhibits and decorations that were on display.

At 5:00 PM, a reception was held in the large banquet tent near the football field where attendees enjoyed a catered BBQ dinner prior to the Hall of Fame football game. As in past years, there was a special half-time program recognizing past AEHS athletes and welcoming the Hall of Fame induction class of 2012.
 
This event lived up to its promise to be the largest AEHS reunion of all time. A big thank you to everyone that attended and to all who helped put it together!
